Green Day @ Molson Park
Best show I've been too ever, hands down. I finally figured out what that meant. kind of. There is no question, no objection, nothing that can refute that statement.
On the way up to the show, John provided us with some fantastic pot and while we sat in traffic, we smoked dube, after dube, after dube. And it was great. The traffic on the 400 wasn't that bad until we got closer to Barrie. For whatever reason they kept closing the off ramp to the park. Crowd control they called it. Idiocy, is what I call it.
We left the cirlce at a little after three, we pulled into the parking lot at like 6. We smoked one more BIG dube, and then figured it was time to start making our way in. And it was a long way. of course there was the laughable pat down. we got in and we could hear that the concert had started, but it was Anti Flag, and as good as they may [or may not be] i had my eye on the beer garden. Only at a concert can u pay $6.50 for a can of beer. But me Jenn and Lea slung two back like champs.
And then the rain started. It had been raining on and off all day and while we all wanted a woodstock 94 exprience of our own, deep down we just wanted it be dry and warm. The crowd went nuts as the rain cooled the air.
"Fuck Bush, blah blah, wine wine" Anti flag finally finished their set, and after a quick sess, and set change, Jimmy eat world took the stage. Fucking amazing. Opened with bleed america. and then the set was over. I swear they played like, 6 songs maybe. I was pretty pissed.
Now at this point I have to explain the best thing about an outdoor concert. We got there after the show started. We stumbled in after our beer and we were at the back, like way behind the sound booth behind the spot light towers. for anti flag, we just walked up a bit, past the parents waiting for this shit to end. For jimmy, we pushed through the bigger gaps pretty much half way between the sound booth adn the stage. For the main act though it was us and about 100 other people fully pushing our way through to the front. Green day isnt a concert we stand and watch. Its a jump anound and have a good time concert. You wanna stand get to the back. Now the cirlce pits, I had nothing to with, I just wasn't feeling it. Green day isn't that angry. So By the end of the concert, we were pretty damn close to the stage. We were so close we could feel the heat from the 50ft flames they used as pryos.
Green Day... Of course they hda to open the American idiot tour with American Idiot, which by the way I have a new respect for. I actually have a new respect for the entire band as a whole. They are by far the best showmen I have ever seen. Billy Joe got hit with shit three times and didn't get pissed, didn't miss a fucking beat. Tre Cool, its definatly tre cool. Billy Joe mooned the crowd. They made a band on stage, which apparently is something they do every show, and they band they mad e was great. Billy Joe [to the the would be guitarist] 'How old are you? 17? and you've been playing guitar for how long? 4 years? ok, ok i have one more question. Have you ever had sex with a woman? no? well you will tonite' And the kid was hott too. he HAAAAAADDD to have gotten laid like with the guitar still slung over his shoulder, in the parking and there must have been a line up. See thats cool. I can't think of anything cooler, really. The closed the show with time of your life, good ridence. Great show, worht every fucking penny. I will go to another Green Day show, thats for sure. I guess thats how they can get 30,000 people out to a show. the repeat factor. This was john's 4th or 5th show. The band has been together for 16 years, they've been puttin out main stream stuff for at least 12, and they show no sign of slowing down. Damned little kids at the show were all over the place. May just be the Rolling Stones of my generation. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
